Getting Rid of Those Annoying Solicitations  E-mail

Do you get tired of the constant sales pitches?  They come in the form of pre-recorded messages, credit applications in the mail, junk mail, e-mails, etc.

Fortunately, there is something that you can do about it.  You just need to know where to go to opt-out.  Let's take a look at some steps you can take.

Phone Solicitations

The Federal Trade Commission is working to make those pre-recorded phone messages go away.  By September of this year, those messages will require an opt-out option at the beginning of the message.  By September 2009, you will be able to opt out completely from all calls by being on the...

Do-Not-Call list

You can either sign up for the do not call list at www.donotcall.gov or call 888-382-1222.  By signing up for that list, telemarketers are not allowed to call you unless you have down business with them before.

Pre-screened credit offers

These are the most annoying and create the potential for identity theft if someone decides to get ahold of your mail.  Just go to www.optoutprescreen.com or call 1-888-567-8688.  This will stop these offers from getting to your mailbox.   You will have to give your Social Security number.

How about catalogues?

Simply go to www.dmachoice.org where you can opt-out of catalogues.  You can also go to www.catalogchoice.com and opt-out of an even bigger list of catalogues.
