Letters - Cease and Desist Statute of Limitations Letter  E-mail

If a collection agency is attempting to collect on a debt that you know to be out of the statute of limitation period, it is good to alert them to the fact that you are aware this is an old debt.  As a review, the statute of limitations period is the time period where a lender/debt buyer can take legal action against you.  This period varies from state to state.  A debt collector can still attempt to take action against you beyond the statute of limitations.  However, a consumer can always claim the statute of limitations as a defense.  This type of debt is not as valuable to a debt collector.  Check the statute of limitations for your state and make sure that this is indeed correct.
